Experience from Hilton Al Khaimah 01

Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Beach Resort and Spa not a good place to work. Very recently I have joined Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Beach Resort and Spa almost after 7 months after I got lay off from my last employer. The recruitment agent who mediated was Vira International in Mumbai.

I request all the readers and all the future candidates NOT to join Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Beach Resort and Spa.

I recommend considering the following points before accepting the offer letters or before travelling to join Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Beach Resort and Spa.

1) Staff Accommodation is in a very bad condition:

a) Even for Senior supervisory positions they have to share their Accommodation and its three employees sharing an room (not apartment). No proper beds are provided in Accommodation instead they have provided iron bunkers in the staff Accommodation.

b) Common Staff Toilet and Bathrooms like in 1960’s. One floor has only 5 Toilet and bathrooms & has more than 40 room in one floor (40 rooms multiply by 3 staff in each rooms) Expect to have queue for Toilets.

c) Toilets are not maintained properly as number of Staff Toilet and bathrooms are not sufficient for the number of employees in the same floor.

2) Pathetic working hours:

a) We are working almost 15 to 16 hours every day. Total staff strength is only 385 (for Resort). Usually for a 5 Star hotel or resort… the employee ratio is double to the number of rooms available. (for example.. if 300 rooms, it will at least have 600 employees)

Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Beach Resort and Spa has 475 rooms + 24 Villas and 17 Restaurants which is spread across 1.5 Kilometer.

As the number of employees is only 385 for the resort of such a big property the working hours, conditions is very pathetic.

3) No proper uniforms:

a) We are issued just one uniform (Just tee-shirt), No actual proper uniform been issued since the day I have joined Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Beach Resort and Spa.

b) Have to wash and maintain our uniforms. The hotel does not washed and iron our uniform (Tee Shirt).

4) Very bad laundry facility at the staff accommodation:

a) Only 3 washing machine and dryers are provided for 335 employees.

b) Most of the time either the machines are broken and even if the machine works expect big queue.

c) Cloths can only be washed on our off days cause no time for all this stuff after working for 15 to 16 hours a day.

5) Conditions are not maintained as per the offer letter or contract letter:

a) No compensatory offs provide for the extra hours we work every day.

6) Employees resigning even before completing probation period:

a) This is a very clear indication that the employees of Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Beach Resort and Spa are not satisfied with the management of this property.

b) I have noticed that many employees have even resigned within 1 or 2 weeks of joining their work.

7) No proper staffing and hierarchy maintained:

a) Within the division, employees are not assigned for a particular department.

b) Many outlets have no managers to taken care, instead Captain and supervisors are asked to take care to reduce managerial cost.

My overall experience:

1) Not a good place to work;

2) Staff Exploitation;

3) Should have waited for few more months to get a better offer;

4) Not even good for the people who start their career;

5) No financial benefits apart from basic pay;

6) Pay scale is too toooo less compared to Dubai. (a waiter here is just paid 700AED in this 5 star resort). Don’t expect any tips cause 97% of the resort guest stay on full package/full board (all Inclusive).

7) Employees are NOT take care of. Find lot lot lot of cost cutting measures (for example: less number of employees, very very cheap flight tickets-Air Arabia, no city tour shuttle for employees and many more).

8) Basic necessity is not taken care.

I urge all the readers to spread this information to all your friends and loved ones and let them decide if they are planning to join Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Beach Resort and Spa. PLEASE make use of the technology. Please let this information spread out of blogs.

I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANY OF MY FRIENDS AND READERS TO JOIN HILTON RAS AL KHAIMAH BEACH RESORT AND SPA.
